Description
Progrip Floor Primer
Progrip Primer is a high-performance, epoxy-ester primer designed to lock-in and prepare challenging surfaces before top coating. Whether you’re working with bare concrete, previously coated substrates, or alternative materials like metal, masonry, wood and more, this primer penetrates and fortifies the surface, stabilizing chalky or weathered conditions and forming an ideal base coat for your finish system. Use Progrip Primer as a tie-coat or anchoring layer on un-coated or coated surfaces to improve adhesion, enhance durability and ensure optimal results. Although not always required, pairing Progrip Primer with our Protread™ Top Coat creates a comprehensive, high-performance system for maximum adhesion and durability.
Preparation
Step 1Pressure Clean:
Surfaces must be clean, dry, sound, and free of dirt, dust, grease, oil, wax, soap film, rust, mold, mildew, curing compounds, and other contaminants. For best results, pressure wash at 2500 PSI or greater. For previously painted surfaces, remove all loose, peeling, or chipped paint. Progrip Primer may be applied over firmly bonded coatings after thoroughly cleaning the surface.
Step 2Application:
Progrip Primer can be applied by brush, medium-nap roller, or pump-up sprayer. Do not overapply. Back-roll any puddles or areas of excess material to ensure an even application. Do not reuse application containers for future painting, as residual primer may react with or contaminate other coatings.
Step 3Dry Time & Cure Time:
Most applications are dry to touch in two (2) hours @ 77 degrees Fahrenheit and 50% relative humidity. The optimal recoat window is 8–12 hours after application. Lower temperatures, higher humidity, excessive film thickness, and poor ventilation may extend dry and recoat times.
